As a matter of principle, we find ourselves faced with this question. Given the opportunity to advance the message of freedom in the face of what we see as an assault on citizens’ rights, do we sit on our hands or make a case for individual liberty?
We have that opportunity in this race for governor. We also had the opportunity to do nothing. To not endorse anyone. But as Skip so succinctly noted during the debate on this race,
We serve our readers, and that’s all I really care about. That said, and at times, they do look for us for guidance. Endorsements are one way of doing that.
We do not endorse as a website often or lightly, but when we do, the result is of a majority of writers’ voices. Eighteen of our authors chimed in when we called for a vote. Would GraniteGrok.com endorse in the Republican primary for governor of New Hampshire?
GraniteGrok.com is endorsing Karen Testerman for Governor of New Hampshire in the September 8th, Republican primary.
It is the opinion of a majority of these voting members that of the candidates on offer Karen Testerman best represents the goals and values we write about every day.
Ed Naile, the Chairman of the Colation of New Hampshire Taxpayers and a long-time contributor to GraniteGrok.com said it best in his personal endorsement of Karen.
If I were to describe Karen another way, simply read our State Constitution:
[Art.] 38. [Social Virtues Inculcated.] A frequent recurrence to the fundamental principles of the constitution, and a constant adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, industry, frugality, and all the social virtues, are indispensably necessary to preserve the blessings of liberty and good government; the people ought, therefore, to have a particular regard to all those principles in the choice of their officers and representatives, and they have a right to require of their lawgivers and magistrates, an exact and constant observance of them, in the formation and execution of the laws necessary for the good administration of government.

That is Karen Testerman to a tee.
We, in the majority, agree.
Editors note: A site-wide endorsement is not an endorsement by any individual contributor but a majority of them. Any author of GraniteGrok.com may endorse any candidate personally at any time whether GraniteGrok has endorsed a candidate or not or endorsed a different candidate.
